HP:GoF Movie Release
is gearing up for the midnight release of the Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
movie, and as such are starting to make plans about what to do. Since some of you who are members/watchers of this community are not members of hp_stlouis
, I thought I'd go ahead and post what we know thus far here for you. :)
Here's the plan.
The theatre at the St. Louis Mills Mall is doing a midnight release shindig for the GoF movie. A few of us went to the screening there for PoA, and it was very well done and the staff handled everything perfectly. As such, this is where we will be going again this year.
The plan is to have dinner someplace beforehand and to then go over to the Mills for the movie. Details for the dinner outing will be forthcoming.
It is up to you to get your own ticket to the midnight release. The only way I know of that you can do this is to actually go to the theatre yourself and give them money. If you're wanting to attend but are unable to get a ticket yourself, please email me at anemonerose[at]livejournal[dot]com and we will try to work something out.
Please head on over to this post
for more details.
Thank you in advance and I hope to see you all there! Current Mood: tired

New St. Louis HP Community
Hello, there! I stumbled on this community by searching for folks interested in HP, and thought that it would be the perfect place to pimp the new regional community I just formed called hp_stlouis
, which is actually a bit like this community in terms of the discussion aspect. I'm hoping that hp_stlouis
can become a journal similar to hp_southwest
and all of those other regional communities where we can plan meetups or gatherings for things like the release of book six and the GoF movie and any other neat events taking place in and around the St. Louis area.
Anyway, if you are interested, please feel free to join hp_stlouis
. Once you join, it'd be great if you could make a simple intro post letting folks know as much or as little about you as you'd like. We already have 13 members and are always interested in finding more folks from our area of the world. :)
(If this is not an appropriate place to post this, please forgive me and feel free to delete.) Current Mood: bouncy

Event in St. Louis!
Sorry this took forever to get posted, but here you are!
Halloween Wizard Weekend
Soaring owls and disappearing rabbits, magical plants and wondrous wands…it’s Wizard Weekend at the Missouri Botanical Garden! Young guests are encouraged to wear their Halloween costumes and join in the fun inspired by a famous bespectacled British boy wizard. Can owls deliver mail? Find out as creatures like the barn owl and Eurasian eagle owl from the World Bird Sanctuary take flight. A magician will perform at 12:30 p.m. each day, and children can fashion a wizard’s cape and wand, learn about plant science and herbology, examine the physics of a broomstick flight and more. All activities are free for Garden members, who also receive an additional 10% discount on children’s games and toys in the Garden Gate Shop. Prizes will be given for best costume (both children and adults). The Saturday Story Time at 11 a.m. will feature excerpts from Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.
Saturday & Sunday, October 30 & 31
11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
This is at the Botanical Gardens downtown, taken from http://www.mobot.org
. It's a very children-oriented event, but it would still be really cute to see. I'll most likely be there as PoA Hermione on Saturday the 30th. Is anyone else up for this at all?

just to say hi
saw this from the email sent out to the meetup members...one of these days I'll actually make it to a meetup, especially if the day is changed. Thursdays (or any night of the work week, really) are not good for me. Anyway, I've been fascinated with Harry Potter since the movies came out, so relatively new fan in the grand scheme of things, but I've read all the books at least four times and I've seen PoA twice and would see it again in a heartbeat. I hope I get to know some of you, because I'm really in need of some friends right now, as most of mine have gone off to school and my roommate is currently in the process of thinking about moving in with her boyfriend (and everyone knows it's practically a done deal). So, yeah. Hi. Check out my webpage at http://etoiline.com
for even more infomation that you didn't need to know.

Various updates of HP-ness...
I apologize for my lack of post-age, but here are a few things I think need to be posted here, as well as on the yahoo group.
1. I'm officially the event organizer of HP in STL meetup group until June, I'd say. so..yay.
2. Event 1: Archon. Currently I am unsure exactly WHEN events are scheduled, except that I know the Hogwarts Open House (Harry Potter meet and greet. Not an actual panel, just to meet people) will be on Friday night (October 1st) with the Dumbledore's Army costuming group out in full force. Otherwise, the other panels I'm pretty sure are happening are Harry Potter costuming and Harry Potter fanfiction, but I've yet to recieve word when exactly those will be. For more information, check out the Archon homepage, over at http://www.archonstl.org/28/index2.html
3. Event 2: Not quite as elaborate as Archon, but the Missouri Botanical Garden in downtown St. Louis over the Oct. 30-31st weekend seems to have some Harry Potter activities directed at young children. I copied/pasted this from their site:
Oct. 30 & 31
Wizard Weekend! Owls in flight, magic tricks, botanical crafts, fun for young wizards and “muggles” alike. 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Ridgway Center. Included with Garden admission or membership.
you can find it over at http://www.mobot.org.
Finally, if anyone hears about PoA DVD release parties or something of the sort, it might be nice to post them here. I know Borders had a release party for the Return of the King DVD, and they might do the same for PoA.
Whoo. I'm out. Feel free to reply or comment on my own LJ if you wish to get in touch with me! Current Mood: accomplished

Hello everyone! Or just...one person right now!
It's luna_selene_gundam_pilot from the yahoo group. Heh. Just for the benefit of the community...I'll post the stuff that deals with my Potter obsession.
I'm an 18 year old from STL who loves Harry Potter (Read books, seen movies, have doujinshi, have sheet music, etc etc.) and costuming, and am part of the Dumbledore's Army costuming group, where I play Hermione. I'd LOVE to go to Witching Hour, but alas, that's during my first semester of college, so it really depends where I go to school ^^; oh well.
So...a gathering of local fans here would be fun. I also do HP online roleplay, and have LARPed before, but not HP oriented stuff.
Nice to meet everyone! :D Current Mood: ecstatic

Hi! Welcome to the Live Journal community just for St. Louis Harry Potter fans. This is a place to plan events, ask questions, discuss the books or related works and generally hang out with some people you might already know. *grin* So stop and join and let's get it started!
I'll introduce myself, just so you know who I am. I'm erin, aka evangeline or sweetevangeline. You may know me from meetup.com or the events I've had (Harry and the Potters show, Witching Hour-sponsored line party for PoA) or just because of my big mouth. I do fanfiction, but not art, I'm vaguely interested in costuming, but not so much. I just bought it all for Halloween last year. But I was a pretty little Ravenclaw, which is neither here nor there.
So, let's be friends. If you feel comfortable, give us your name, house, location and what you're interested in. Thanks for stopping by.
